Small upgrades and hacks to transform your home effortlessly

3 min read
With most of us spending a lot more time at home, it makes sense that many of us are looking for quick and easy ways to upgrade and transform our homes, even if it’s only in a small way.

So, whether you’re an avid DIYer or a home improvement newbie, we’ve put together a few simple ways you can make some home improvements without spending too much time or money.

Pain your cabinets or add new handles

It’s amazing the difference that a fresh lick of paint can make to your kitchen cabinets. If you want to give your kitchen an upgrade but don’t want to invest in completely new cabinets, then just refreshing the paint or even making them a brand new colour can make an immeasurable difference. Even something as easy as swapping out your old handles for modern versions can take less than an hour but can make you feel like you have a whole new kitchen!

Add some mirrors

Make any space feel bigger and lighter with the addition of a mirror. You could go big and bold with a statement framed piece or simply add a frameless mirror to your wall for a chic touch that makes a big difference.

Decorate with plants, flowers and artwork

The best way to upgrade your rooms without making any permanent changes (which is also great if you’re renting and don’t want to lose your deposit!) is to add in some new plants, buy yourself some flowers (you deserve it) and attach some new artwork to the walls - you can get velcro strips to attach the frames to your walls without any damage to the paintwork.

Lay a hallway runner

If you have wooden floors, a great way to jazz up your front entrance is to lay your own runner, especially as it’s the first thing your guests will see as they walk into your house! Go for a bold print or just stick with neutral colours depending on your interior design and marvel at the difference. You could even make the change just using an old rug!

Create some bespoke shelves

Got a small nook or cranny in your home that you have no idea what to do with? Add in some shelves to create more storage (which is never a bad thing) or as an extra space to fill with decorations. If you don’t have a built-in space, you can simply add a large shelving unit or ladder style shelves to your walls for books, candles and plants!

Or add a Real Flame Fireplace!

We’re not bias of course, but we really do believe adding a fireplace to your home can completely transform the look and feel whilst creating the perfect place to gather around with friends and family. It doesn’t have to be a huge project that requires a chimney or gas line either, as all of our electric fireplaces are super easy to install and can even be fitted into high rise apartment buildings with minimal fuss. If you want a more eco-friendly option, we also have plenty of High-Efficiency Gas Fireplaces which have power balanced flues to give you total flexibility during installation.
